Wine expert blindly tested 25 wines while running London Marathon

Professional wine seller Tom Gilbey took on a challenge to blindly test 25 wines while running the 26.2-mile London Marathon last weekend.
Mr Gilbey had to guess the country of origin, producer and year of the wines he tried.
The 52-year-old wine expert took on the challenge to fundraise for the “wonderful team” at Sobell House hospice, who nursed and cared for his mother in her last few days.
The result
Mr Gilbey was fully correct and ‘almost right’ 21 times and missed only four wines.
Most importantly, he raised over £20,000 for the hospice charity.
While talking to the BBC News, the veteran wine taster said that he managed to avoid feeling tipsy by only drinking small sips or sometimes not swallowing the wine at all.
“If they were good, I might swallow it and if they were bad, they went on the road.
“The wheels came off near the Isle of Dogs. [The wines] weren’t good ones,” he added.
Hospice hero
Amelia Foster, chief executive of Sobell House, said: “Tom is a hospice hero, and we are so grateful to him and all our other amazing marathon runners who have raised over £51,000 so far.
“Hospices help people live life to the full while they can and to have as good a death as possible when the time comes. It’s hard to talk about, but so important, and Tom is certainly living life to the full in memory of his dear mum, Caroline.”
