VineWorks shortlisted for Sussex business award
11th November 2023
The Sussex Business Awards have announced that VineWorks has been shortlisted for Medium Business of the Year for 2023.
Now in its 35th year, the Sussex Business Awards is the largest and most prestigious event of its kind which recognises the best innovators, leaders, entrepreneurs and businesses in the region.
The event is organised by the Platinum Media Group and the awards ceremony will take place on Thursday 30th November 2023 at the Grand Hotel in Brighton.
The Medium Business of the Year award is sponsored by Kreston Reeves.
VineWorks was founded in 2006 by CEO James Dodson while he was completing his BSc (Hons) in Viticulture and Oenology at Plumpton College. James recognised the growing need for vineyard services to support the rapidly expanding UK wine industry.
Since those humble beginnings, VineWorks has evolved into the UK’s leading vineyard services company having established over 300 vineyards, planted over 4.5 million vines, installed over 1 million posts, and hand-harvested thousands of tons of grapes.
VineWorks is based in Plumpton Green (East Sussex) and was recently awarded a silver medal at the British Farming Awards 2023 for Contractor of the Year.
“As a business we are extremely proud to be shortlisted for any award, but particularly for one which covers our local area encompassing many of our customers and colleagues,” said Chris Buckley, business director of VineWorks.
“The recognition is a result of exceptional teamwork, high levels of service, years of hard work and investment in areas of a business we, as a team, feel passionate about.”
James Dodson said: “I’m so honoured that VineWorks has been shortlisted for a Sussex Business Award. I established the company while studying Viticulture and Oenology at Plumpton College in 2006, back when the UK wine industry was still finding its feet, and we’ve been based in Sussex ever since.
“While VineWorks now supports vineyards across the UK, Sussex continues to play an integral role in our company’s day-to-day operations and identity. Being shortlisted for this award also acknowledges the growing reputation of UK wine, which we would like to share with our colleagues and clients across the region.”
