Wine merchant Philglas & Swiggot announces closure after over 30 years in business
4th March 2025
London wine merchant Philglas & Swiggot has announced closure after more than 30 years in business.

Over the years, the company expanded adding stores in Marylebone and Richmond, and becoming one of London’s independent wine merchants.
Philglas & Swiggot has issued a statement that reads: “After more than 30 incredible years, we’ve made the very difficult decision to close Philglas & Swiggot on 16th March 2025.
“From our first shop on Northcote Road in 1991 to our Marylebone location and beyond, it has been an absolute joy to serve London’s wine lovers—whether in-store, online, or through our private client and En Primeur services.
“Sadly, increasingly challenging trading conditions and the additional complexities of Brexit have made it impossible for us to continue.”
‘We will cherish the memories forever’
The company has thanked its team for their dedication and its loyal customers for their support, laughter, and shared love of great wine over the years. It has truly been an unforgettable journey.
They added: “For customers with outstanding En Primeur or pre-ordered wine, we have contacted you via email. If you have any questions, please reach out at marylebone@philglas-swiggot.com or battersea@philglas-swiggot.com
“Thank you for being part of our story. We will cherish the memories forever.”
